Who we are

TAQA is a design practice concerned with continuity.

It works with garments as cultural objects; carriers of memory, labour and place, and asks how these histories can remain present in contemporary life. Drawing primarily from Palestinian dress traditions, and in dialogue with the wider Arab region, TAQA approaches heritage not as something to replicate, but as something to study, interpret and live with.

The work unfolds slowly. Research, observation and making are treated as equally important acts. Patterns are analysed, motifs are translated and techniques are adapted with care, allowing tradition to inform new forms without being reduced to decoration.

TAQA values process over production, learning over certainty, and depth over immediacy. Each piece is part of a longer inquiry; one that acknowledges what is known, what is still being uncovered and what must be handled with respect.

Rather than aiming for conclusions, TAQA remains in conversation: with the past, craft and with the possibility of carrying heritage forward in ways that feel relevant, considered and alive.
